A Call For a Boycott of Israeli Products during Ramadan
UK-based organization 'Friends of Al-Aqsa' has started a campaign in different cities of the world including United Kingdom, United States to boycott Israeli products.
More than 20,000 leaflets have been distributed calling for awareness of the boycott of Israeli products. They were also seen campaigning on Twitter using the hashtag 'Check the Label' (#CheckTheLabel).
The campaign urges Muslims in the US and Europe not to buy Israeli products during the holy month of Ramadan.
The website of the organization stated that “this Ramadan make sure you’re not breaking your fast with the taste of apartheid. All you need to do is check the label to avoid buying dates from apartheid Israel. This includes dates labelled from Israel, the West Bank and the Jordan Valley”. It also mentioned that “Ramadan is a time of reflection and self-improvement. During this month we are more conscious of our actions and how they affect others Israel is the world’s largest producer of Medjoul dates. Let's be conscious of not buying dates that support Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine and apartheid regime”.
In Asia, Morocco and Malaysia are also said to have launched activities in favor of this campaign.Leaflets were distributed during Friday prayers yesterday. It reads, let this Ramadan go without Israeli dates.Campaigners say Israel has killed at least 83 Palestinians in 76 days of 2023.
