Diversity and Unity on Display at the 2024 NJ Islamic Games
Metuchen, NJ - May 28, 2024 - The Islamic Games, North America’s largest Muslim sports and athletic competition, is set to be a grand showcase of Muslim diversity, unity, and sportsmanship. More than 1,800 athletes from over 130 teams are preparing to meet and compete in Metuchen, NJ, on June 8-9, 2024, at the highly anticipated Annual Islamic Games.
The sports-packed weekend will feature a variety of competitions catering to male and female athletes of all ages and skill levels. Competitive events include soccer, basketball, volleyball, cricket, flag football, martial arts, pickleball, table tennis, arm wrestling, fitness courses, and more. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just looking to enjoy some friendly competition, there's a place for everyone at the Islamic Games.
"We're thrilled and always excited to organize the Islamic Games in New Jersey. It's been more than 35 years, and we’ve been serving generations of athletes from more than 40 different backgrounds and nationalities,” said Salaudeen Nausrudeen, President of the Islamic Games.
“The Islamic Games provide a platform for individuals, teams, leagues, organizations, and communities to come together, connect, compete, and celebrate their athletes and teams. At the end of the day, sports are healthy and halal, serving as a critical component for community and character development. This is our mission,” added Mr. Nausrudeen.
After successful operations in New York and New Jersey for the past 35 years, the Islamic Games have expanded to major cities with dominant Muslim populations, including Dallas, Chicago, and Toronto. This year, more than 5,000 athletes from over 400 teams will participate and compete in the various Islamic Games events across North America.
In addition to the sports competition, attendees can look forward to delicious ethnic food, desserts, smoothies, as well as a variety of vendors. The Islamic Games is a free event open to the public, promising a memorable day for all.
