Tonight ,as the new crescent moon marks the beginning of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, President Joseph R. Biden and First Lady Jill Biden have extended their best wishes and prayers to Muslims across the United States and around the world.

President Biden expressed his recognition of the sacred month as a time for reflection and renewal. However, he also acknowledged the immense pain faced by many, particularly in light of the ongoing conflict in Gaza. More than 30,000 Palestinians, mostly civilians, including thousands of children, have lost their lives in the war, leaving countless families grieving. Additionally, nearly two million Palestinians have been displaced, urgently requiring humanitarian aid.

In response, the United States, under President Biden's leadership, has taken action to provide assistance to Gaza. Military efforts have been directed towards establishing a temporary pier for aid shipments and conducting airdrops in coordination with international partners. Efforts are also being made to work with Israel to ensure the facilitation of aid deliveries by land.

Furthermore, President Biden emphasized the commitment of the United States to pursue a ceasefire and long-term peace in the region, including support for a two-state solution. He reiterated the importance of equal measures of freedom, dignity, security, and prosperity for both Palestinians and Israelis.

Addressing domestic concerns, President Biden condemned the resurgence of hate and violence towards Muslim Americans. He reaffirmed that Islamophobia has no place in the United States and highlighted the administration's efforts to develop a National Strategy to Counter Islamophobia and Related Forms of Bias and Discrimination.

In closing, President Biden extended his support and solidarity to Muslim Americans, especially those affected by the ongoing conflict. He wished all Muslims marking the beginning of Ramadan a safe, healthy, and blessed month.

The statement concludes with the traditional greeting, "Ramadan Kareem."
